Tax Technology Analyst
Summary of Position
This role will serve the Indirect Tax team by enhancing and transforming the technology systems used within the Tax Department. This individual will be responsible for leveraging technology tools to solve business problems, query and analyze data sets, and implement efficiencies and processes as they relate to indirect tax and unclaimed property.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Facilitate enhancements to the tax systems necessary to ensure proper tax reporting for strategic initiatives. Including process design, implementation, user acceptance testing, and training.
• Demonstrate an understanding of sales tax concepts and effectively apply knowledge to develop and transform tax systems such as Vertex and OneSource Indirect Tax Determinations and their respective data flows
• Collaborate with tax management to ensure tax and point of sale systems reflect current regulatory requirements and audit results
• Assist in building out the roadmap for department improvements
• Collect and document system and reporting enhancements
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements, automation, efficiency gains and technology best practices by using new and existing technologies
• Participate in cross-functional teams with internal partners for strategic initiatives
• Develop Tax Department reporting dashboards and data flows
• Serve as a technology resource to colleagues in the Tax Department
• Ability to self-manage multiple projects at once
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems or related field
• 2-4 years previous indirect tax work experience
• Vertex, Sabrix/OneSource or other tax engines
• Power BI, Alteryx or other automation tools
• Ability to interpret and summarize complex data
• Strong analytical skills and project management skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Experience running SQL queries
Preferred Qualifications
• Experienced with RPA
• CPA
